The Friendly House provides an affordable and safe program for the youth of the community to attend. After-school and summer child care is an important part of a family when they have to work or go to school, and Friendly House provides this childcare at low cost.  Although the fees are low, there is still financial aid for those that qualify.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our goal with this program is to prevent and reduce community youth crime and delinquent behavior for these age groups, while improving both the mental and physical well-being and positive social development of the youth in the program.  <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friendly House is rated through the Ohio Department of Children and Youth (ODCY) Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) program.  Step Up To Quality<\/a> is a quality rating and improvement system administered by the ODCY. SUTQ recognizes and promotes learning and development programs that meet quality program standards that exceed preschool licensing<\/a> and school age child care licensing<\/a> health and safety regulations. Step Up To Quality program standards are based on national research identifying standards which lead to improved outcomes for children.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM – SEPTEMBER TO MAY – ENROLLMENT BEGINS JULY 30, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children kindergarten age through 6th grade attend Friendly House After-School Program from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Transportation is provided to select Mansfield City Schools. A hot, nutritious meal is served upon arrival. Youth participate in a wide variety of activities which include arts & crafts, library, computer room, games in gym, tutoring, game room, and outside playground. All children have the opportunity to do their homework prior to participating in planned activities.  There is a one time, low-cost fee for this program which is paid at registration and is good for the duration of the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friendly House provides extended care for school age youth, during Mansfield City School vacations and snow days from 9:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M.  Check our Event Calendar<\/strong><\/a> for dates\/times.  Children must be enrolled in the After School Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While enrolled in the After-School Program, children are also eligible for many outside voluntary activities that are run by other area organizations or agencies.  These agencies include:  Bible Study with Calvary Chapel Mansfield<\/a>, Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland<\/a>, Mid-Ohio Youth Mentoring<\/a>, and many others.  On Friday evenings, starting in the fall, children are able to stay after 6:00 P.M. for Friday Night Fun Club where they will participate in a special activity and then go swimming at Friendly House from 7:30 – 9:00 P.M. (times are subject to change due to swim lessons and rentals).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Afterschool Program is currently on a WAIT LIST. <\/strong> Registration began on July 30th<\/sup>.  The Afterschool Program began on September 8th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SUMMER FUN PROGRAM – JUNE TO AUGUST (9 WEEKS) – OPEN ENROLLMENT BEGINS APRIL 29, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer Fun is an all day program at Friendly House for nine weeks during the summer months.  Children must register for Summer Fun program and pay the small fee before beginning.  A hot, nutritious meal is served for lunch and we suggest that all of the kids bring an afternoon snack with them.  While at Friendly House during the summer, children have the opportunity to participate in many of the same activities as the After-School Program, including swimming twice per week in our indoor pool.  We also offer “stay-cations” in Mansfield by going to places like the Clearfork Reservoir, Ohio Bird Sanctuary, walking tour of the Ohio State Reformatory, Mansfield Fire Museum, Kelly’s Putt Putt, and the Altitude Trampoline Park. These field trips are partially funded through the Richland County Foundation<\/a> Summertime Kids Grant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
